Kaduna Police Arrest 41 Suspected Kidnappers, Rescue 7 Victims

The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested no fewer than 41 suspected kidnappers and armed robbers, while rescuing seven kidnapped victims in sustained operations across the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, disclosed this on Monday during a press briefing on the command’s achievements for March and April 2026.

He said the command also recovered 24 firearms, 200 rounds of live ammunition and 50 rustled cows within the period under review.

Muhammad attributed the successes to intelligence-led policing, strategic operations and the commitment of officers and men of the command under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Olutunji Rilwan Disu.

He said, “Within the period under review, the command has recorded significant successes, particularly in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes. We have successfully dismantled kidnapping syndicates and disrupted their networks across the state.”

The CP highlighted the arrest of a suspected gunrunner, Samaila Ilyasu, in Kagarko Local Government Area, where 20 locally made dane guns were recovered.

Similarly, police operatives arrested two suspected kidnappers, Abdullahi Suleiman and Jibril Isyaku, in Makarfi LGA, following credible intelligence on their activities.

In a related development, the command arrested multiple informants accused of aiding bandits with information and logistics.

Among them were Ali Usman, Haruna Abubakar and Yusufa Audu, who allegedly supplied intelligence and illicit drugs to criminal groups.

Muhammad also disclosed that detectives arrested two suspects, Umar Yusuf and Jibril Lawal, in connection with culpable homicide in Giwa LGA.

He further said two suspected gunrunners, Isah Abdullahi and Muhammad Salisu, were apprehended while transporting 200 rounds of live ammunition concealed in a sack of guinea corn.

The police boss added that a notorious drug dealer identified as Mohd Sani, popularly known as Shanuna, was arrested in Rigasa for alleged involvement in drug dealing, phone snatching and gang-related crimes.

According to him, operatives, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force, also arrested two suspected kidnappers, Idris Abubakar and Ibrahim Bello, linked to a syndicate operating in Kubau LGA.

Muhammad said the command also recorded success in tackling cattle rustling, with the arrest of two suspects and recovery of 20 stolen cows in separate operations.

He added that additional arrests were made by Operation Fushin Kada teams, including suspected motorcycle snatchers, armed robbers and thieves operating in different parts of the state.

The commissioner said all suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigations, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend fleeing members of the criminal networks.

He urged members of the public to sustain cooperation with the police, assuring that the command would not relent until criminal elements are flushed out of the state. (Daily trust)
