Kano anti-graft agency investigates ‘diversion of over N4bn’ to Ganduje family

The Kano state Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has launched an investigation into the alleged diversion of more than N4 billion of state funds into the Dala Inland Dry Port.
The probe centres on claims that contracts worth billions of naira for infrastructure was awarded at the port when Abdullahi Ganduje was governor of Kano, shortly after the state’s 20 percent equity was converted to the former governor’s family in 2020.
The transaction was said to have effectively edged Kano state out of ownership and installed Ganduje’s children as directors and shareholders of the multi-billion naira investment.
By the time the contract was awarded, the state reportedly had no stake in the project.
Saidu Yahya, chairman of the PCACC, said the investigation was triggered by petitions filed against the alleged misappropriation.
“Yes, we received petitions from the public on the alleged over N4bn Kano State fund diverted into the Dala Inland Dry Port by the immediate past administration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje,” Yahya said.
He explained that some individuals of interest had been invited, with one person arrested and later released on bail after providing key information.
“Investigation revealed that one of the parties is now in Yola, Adamawa state,” Yahya said.
The PCACC chairman added that the matter would soon be charged to court as a prima facie case has been established.(The Cable)
