Rodrygo double sinks Chelsea as Milan dump Napoli out of UCL
Rodrygo Goes scored twice in the second half as Real Madrid defeated Chelsea 2-0 in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) quarter-final second-leg clash at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
The scoreline sees Chelsea exit the UCL following a 4-0 aggregate loss to the reigning champions.
The Spanish giants made Chelsea pay for several missed opportunities when Rodrygo slotted home Vinicius Jr’s pass from close range in the 58th minute.
The 22-year-old sealed the win ten minutes from time when he tapped in Federico Valverde’s flicked pass.
Real Madrid await the winners of the clash between Manchester City and Bayern Munich.
In the other match of the night, Victor Osimhen scored a late leveller for Napoli but it was not enough for his club side who got knocked out of the UCL by AC Milan — with a 2-1 aggregate loss after a 1-1 draw in the second leg at Stadio Maradona in Naples.
Oliver Giroud missed a penalty but scored the winning goal against the Italian Serie A runaway leaders.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia also missed a penalty but Osimhen powered home a header in the second half added time to level the match on the night but not the aggregate scoreline as the Partenopei crashed out of the prestigious competition. (The Cable)
