Senator Ningi Resigns From PDP
Senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District, Abdul Ahmed Ningi, has formally resigned his membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Ningi made this known in a resignation letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ningi Ward in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
According to him, the decision became necessary after wide consultations with stakeholders, associates, and supporters.
Ningi had been a member of the PDP for over 20 years.
He joined the party in 1998 and served in various capacities, including two terms as a Member of the House of Representatives and two terms as a Senator of the Federal Republic.
Ningi described the PDP as “once the largest political party in Africa” with strong ideology, unity, and democratic values that enabled participatory governance.
According to him, internal leadership crisis, factional divisions, and competing interests within the party had weakened its unity and structure.
“It is now a great concern and worrisome to me that this virile and united platform could be turned into a ramshackle organisation with internal leadership wrangling and factional interests,” he wrote.
Ningi said the decision to leave PDP was one of the most difficult moments of his political career.
He noted that the PDP had given him the opportunity to serve his constituency and the country with distinction.
The lawmaker expressed gratitude to party leaders at all levels who supported his political journey over the years.
“As I continue my political career outside the People’s Democratic Party, please accept my best regards,” he added.(daily trust)
