A mass shooting at a block party in Baltimore, United States on Sunday, has left two people dead and 28 others injured.

The incident happened just after midnight (05:00 GMT) in the Brooklyn Homes area, where people had gathered for an event called Brooklyn Day, the BBC reports.

An 18-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man are died during the mass shooting, according to Baltimore Police Acting Commissioner Richard Worley.

Worley said all that the police knew right now was that there are multiple shooters who opened fire on a large crowd of people who were out during the block party.

“We don’t know if they were targeted or if (the shooters) were just shooting indiscriminately down the street,” Worley said.

The police said all 30 of the victims had gunshot wounds, with their ages ranging from 13 and 32 years old.

According to the CNN, authorities believed roughly 14 of the victims hurt were under 18 years old.

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott told a news conference that the shooting was a reckless, cowardly act that happened in the city.

“We will not to stop until we find you and we will find you. Until then I hope that with every single breath that you take that you think about the lives that you took and you think about the lives that you impacted here tonight,” Scott said.

“It again highlights the impacts and the need to deal with the over-proliferation of illegal guns on our streets and the ability for those who should not have them to get their hands on them and also of the need for accountability on each and every level when you’re dealing with guns and gun violence,” he added.
