Burna Boy Subtly Responds To Davido’s “New Cat” Remark
In a recent interview, Nigerian singer Burna Boy seems to have responded to Davido’s remark that he is a “new cat” in the music industry. Burna Boy said that he actually thinks it is a good thing that people think he is new.
“It is a good thing that people think my movement is new,”
Burna Boy said. “I love that. Because it keeps me young. It means like, I can do so much more, you know. It stretches my life span.”
Burna Boy went on to say that he feels blessed to be able to do different genres of music, and that he would have been wasting his talent if he had restricted himself to one genre.
“I feel blessed that I can do different genres,” Burna Boy said. “It would have been a waste if I had restricted myself to a genre. Music is bigger than a genre.”
Davido’s remark about Burna Boy came during an interview with Ebro Darden on Hot 97. Davido said that he and Wizkid had paved the way for the “new cats” in the Afrobeats music industry, and that Burna Boy was one of those “new cats” alongside Rema, Asake, Fireboy DML etc.
