Tinubu better ally than Atiku, Kwankwaso – Ohanaeze faction tells Obi
The Chidi Ibeh-led faction of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, yesterday, advised presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, to stand alone or even partner with President Bola Tinubu, rather than align with the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, or Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Secretary General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, in a statement in Abakaliki, said: “There is possibility of collapse in their talks because Nigerians will not accept Atiku or Kwankwaso as leaders of an alliance. Nigerians know that the uncharitable disposition and desperation of Atiku Abubakar will never allow him to support Peter Obi to become leader of the opposition.
“The ill-fated journey of Atiku, Obi and Kwankwaso will crumble in the future. Nigerians are warning the presidential candidate of LP to be wary of failed politicians, whose interest is looking for a way to exploit the credibility and popularity of Obi, to see how to depose President Bola Tinubu.
“Nigerians are keenly watching the latest attempt of drowning politicians to use Obi to wrestle power from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the future. The indelible stain of such alliance talks, among Atiku, Kwankwaso and Obi, will destroy Peter Obi, if he, Obi, decides to play second fiddle.
“Ohanaeze cautions Obi that association with Atiku and Kwankwaso will destroy him, except if the two support him to lead a unified opposition political party, which is unlikely.”
The statement added: “Peter Obi should work alongside Tinubu than the duo of Atiku and Kwankwaso, or stand independently. Peter Obi will lose the support from Nigerians, if he plays second fiddle in the future. Ndigbo urges him to pull out of the alliance talks.”
