Bayindir becomes first Turkish Man Utd goalkeeper

Altay Bayindir will become the first Turkish player to wear the Manchester United jersey when he makes his debut.

Manchester United announced on Friday that he was signed from Fenerbahce in a deal worth £4.3 million ($5.3 million).

Bayindir and the Premier League team agreed on a four-year contract, with the option to extend it for another year.

The 25-year-old will back up United’s primary keeper, Andre Onana, who joined the club earlier this week following Dean Henderson’s departure to Crystal Palace.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Bayindir said, “It is a tremendous honour to join Manchester United and be the inaugural Turkish player representing this remarkable club. I am deeply committed to achieving success and will give my all to assist this exceptional group of players in realising our ambitions.”

“I am eagerly anticipating collaborating with such an accomplished goalkeeping unit.

‘We will support and push each other to maintain high standards every day, ensuring that each of us is prepared to perform when called upon,” Bayindir added.

In his career, Bayindir has made 166 appearances and kept 53 clean sheets.

He joined Fenerbahce from Ankaragucu in 2019 and was instrumental in their Turkish Cup victory and Super Lig second-place finish last season.
