Jude Bellingham continued his prolific start to life at Real Madrid with a last-gasp winner to break Union Berlin hearts in their Champions League opener.

The Bundesliga side were appearing in the group stages of the Champions League for the first time in their history, and they looked on course for a famous point at the home of the 14-time champions when the clock ticked into the final minute of stoppage time with the scores still goalless.

However, Bellingham popped up with an opportunistic tap-in from close range to steal all three points for Madrid with his sixth goal in as many games since joining the Spanish giants in the summer.

The result means that Ancelotti’s men extend their 100% start to the season in all competitions ahead of the Madrid derby against Atletico at the weekend, while Union Berlin have now suffered three successive defeats.

In the same vein, Harry Kane was on the scoresheet as Bayern Munich opened their Champions League group-stage campaign with a 4-3 victory over Manchester United at Allianz Arena.

The Bundesliga champions led 2-0 at the interval, with Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry on the scoresheet, before Rasmus Hojlund notched his first Man United goal early in the second period.

Bayern restored their two-goal advantage four minutes later from the penalty spot, though, with Kane dispatching after Christian Eriksen had been penalised for handball.

Casemiro’s late effort set up a grandstand finish in Munich, but Bayern netted again through Mathys Tel to all but make sure of all three points.

There was time for another goal, with Casemiro heading a Bruno Fernandes free kick into the bottom corner, only for the referee’s whistle to blow almost immediately after the restart.

Man United have now lost their last three matches in all competitions, while Bayern have taken an early control of Group A, sitting at the top of the section after the first set of fixtures.

In other games, last season finalists Inter Milan were held to a 1-1 draw by Real Sociedad while Benfica lost 2-0 at home to RB Salzburg.

Napoli defeated Sporting Brage 2-1 while Sevilla played a 1-1 draw with Lens. Galatasaray also played 2-2 draw with FC Copenhagen while Arsenal dispatched PSV Eindhoven with a comprehensive 4-0 win.
