A dog named Cecil in Pennsylvania has gone viral for eating $4,000 cash left out by his owners.

According to BBC, the funds were intended to pay a contractor.

Clayton and Carrie Law, Cecil’s owners, discovered most of the chewed-up cash after searching through Cecil’s waste and vomit, but $450 is still missing.

Fortunately, the vet said Cecil would be fine. Cecil ate a pricey snack after discovering money left on the kitchen counter to pay for a fence installation.

“Suddenly Clayton yelled to me, ‘Cecil’s eating $4,000!’” Carrie Law told the Pittsburgh City Paper in an interview. “I thought to myself, ‘I cannot be hearing that.’ “I was on the verge of having a heart attack.”

“He’s very particular – you could leave a steak on the table, and he wouldn’t touch it because he’s not food motivated,” Carrie Law, a reporter for the newspaper, said. “But apparently he is money motivated.”

The couple meticulously taped the broken $50 and $100 bills together piece by piece. They made certain that the serial numbers were found on both sides of the bills in order for the banks to exchange them for new notes.

When they went to the bank, the majority of the damaged notes were accepted, but $450 could not be replaced. The bank alerted the authorities that such incidents occur frequently.
