Christian Eriksen collapses on pitch again
Christian Eriksen is conscious and receiving medical attention after collapsing during Denmark’s international friendly against Ukraine on Saturday.
The incident occurred during the second half of the match, with television footage showing the Danish midfielder suddenly falling to the ground.
Following the medical emergency, the match was abandoned.
Providing an update on Eriksen’s condition, the Danish Football Federation said in a statement on X: “Christian Eriksen is conscious and is doing well under the circumstances.”
The incident revived memories of the frightening scenes at the 2021 European Championship, when Eriksen collapsed during Denmark’s opening match against Finland in Copenhagen.
On that occasion, the former Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United midfielder received life-saving CPR treatment on the pitch.
Following extensive medical examinations, Eriksen was later fitted with a special heart-starting device known as an Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (ICD), which helps regulate potentially dangerous heart rhythms
Further updates on the 34-year-old’s condition are expected from the Danish Football Federation and medical officials.
