JCI Unveils Top 30 Nominees for 2018 Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) Award

The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Nigeria has unveiled the top 30 Nominees for the 2018 edition of the Junior Chamber International Ten Outstanding Young Persons (JCI TOYP) of Nigeria Programme.
The list of the top 30 contenders for the award was unveiled at a ceremony held at Protea Hotel, Kuramo Beach, Victoria Island, Lagos on Sunday, April 8, 2018. The ceremony was witnessed by the 2018 JCI Nigeria President,Mr. Adeniyi R. Balogun, the Executive Vice President, South West, Abiola Olorunnisola, JCI International Vice President Kola Osinowo, the Executive Assistant to JCI World President, Adetola Juyitan, members of the 2018 TOYP Committee, JCI Members, past honorees, nominees for the 2018 Award and invited dignitaries.

Speaking at the event, the 2018 Nigeria President of JCI,Mr. Adeniyi R. Balogun disclosed that since 1983, Junior Chamber International has recognized numerous young persons who have excelled in their chosen field of endeavours and created positive impact in their communities through the annual TOYP Award.
He stated award seeks to recognize outstanding achievement of young Nigerians who are under 40 for their hard work and, exemplary leadership in different areas of human endeavours ranging from science, human right, entrepreneurship and health.
Also speaking at the unveiling of the top 30 Nominees, the 2018 JCI TOYP Chairperson, Oluwatoyin Atanda, revealed that the 2018 edition of the award received 1817 nominations, which is unprecedented in the history of the awards.
She revealed that the nominations went through three stages of scrutiny to arrive at the final top 30 which include assessment by the 2018 TOYP Organizing Committee, first judging process by JCI Nigeria and the Organizing Committee and the second judging Process by the carefully selected Independent Panel of Judges while the results of the judges were verified by the official Audit Partner for the Award.
Atanda announced that the final top 10 would be determined by public voting and that voting is now opened on the website www.toyp.jci.ng/voting from April 8, 2018 and would close on April 29, 2018
Notable personalities that have won the awards include Rt. (Hon.) Rotimi Amaechi, Richard Mofe Damijo, Ibukun Awosika, Femi Anikulapo-Kuti, Gbenga Sesan, Kanu Nwankwo, Kafayat Shafau, Linda Ikeji, Japheth Omojuwa to mention a few.
