Terrorists Demand N50Million Ransom For Ahman Pategi University Final-Year Student, Brother
Terrorists holding a final-year student of Ahman Pategi University, Patigi, and his brother captive have reportedly demanded a ransom of ₦50 million for their release, prompting an urgent appeal for financial assistance from a student association.
SaharaReporters gathered that Gana Usman, a final-year student in the Department of English at Ahman Pategi University, Patigi, and his brother were abducted by kidnappers and are currently being held in captivity.
Meanwhile, the abductors have contacted the family and demanded Fifty Million Naira (₦50,000,000) as a condition for releasing the victims.
The development has stirred concern among students and residents, with many expressing fears over the growing insecurity affecting communities and educational institutions across the country.
Meanwhile, the National Association of Patigi Emirate Students (NAPES), National Headquarters, has launched a public appeal for support to help secure the release of the student and his brother.
In a statement dated June 15, 2026, and signed by its Executive President, Yakubu Jamilat Talatu, the association described the situation as distressing and called on well-meaning Nigerians, philanthropists, community leaders, and stakeholders to assist the family.
The statement read, “NAPES NHQs hereby appeals to the general public, well-meaning individuals, philanthropists, community leaders, and stakeholders to assist in raising funds for the release of our fellow student, Gana Usman, a Final Year student of the Department of English, Ahman Pategi University, Patigi.”
According to the association, the ransom demand has placed an overwhelming burden on the victims’ family, which is unable to raise the required amount independently.
“Gana Usman and his brother were abducted by kidnappers and are currently being held captive. The abductors have demanded a ransom of Fifty Million Naira (₦50,000,000) for their release,” the statement said.
NAPES said the incident has deeply affected members of the student community, stressing that students could not remain indifferent while one of their colleagues faces such a difficult ordeal.
“This unfortunate situation has placed an enormous burden on the family, who are unable to meet the ransom demand on their own. As a student community, we cannot remain silent while one of our own faces this difficult ordeal,” they said.
The association therefore urged members of the public to contribute financially towards the victims’ release, noting that every donation, regardless of its size, would help alleviate the family’s burden.
NAPES further called on compassionate individuals across the country to support what it described as a humanitarian cause, expressing hope that collective efforts would contribute to the safe return of the abducted student and his brother.
The association also prayed for the victims’ safe return and appealed for solidarity from the public as efforts continue to secure their freedom.
“May Almighty Allah reward every donor abundantly and grant the victims a safe return to their loved ones,” it added.
