The Board of FirstBank of Nigeria Limited has appointed Ebenezer Olufowose, a Non-Executive Director, as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of the bank.

This follows the successful completion of the 12-year successful tenure of Tunde Hassan-Odukale.

Adewale Arogundade, the bank’s Acting Company Secretary, announced this in a notice to the Nigerian Stock Exchange, on Thursday.

“FBN Holdings Pic (the Company) hereby notifies the Nigerian Exchange Limited and the investing public of the completion of the tenure of the Chairman of its flagship subsidiary – First Bank of Nigeria Limited (FirstBank), Mr. Tunde Hassan-Odukale.

“This follows the completion of the cumulative number of years, which is 12 (twelve) years for a Non-Executive Director, in line with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Corporate Governance Guidelines.

“Consequently, the Board of FirstBank has appointed Mr. Ebenezer Olufowose, a Non-Executive Director, as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of First Bank of Nigeria Limited,” the notice read.

Ebenezer Olufowose was appointed to the Board of Directors of First Bank of Nigeria Limited on 29 April 2021.

He is the Group Managing Director of First Ally Capital Limited, an investment banking firm based in Lagos.

With over 36 years of working in the financial services industry, Ebenezer brings skills from Corporate Finance, Project Finance and Investment Banking to the Board.

Before joining the FirstBank Board, he was Executive Director at Access Bank Plc and Citibank Nigeria, where he led Citigroup’s origination, structuring and execution of corporate finance and investment banking transactions in Nigeria.

He started his banking career in 1985 at NAL Merchant Bank Plc (NAL), working in the Corporate Planning and Finance Departments.
