Autopsy did not ascertain cause of Mohbad’s death – Pathologist tells court
A pathologist, Prof Shokunle Shoyemi, yesterday, told a Magistrate’s court sitting in Ikorodu that the cause of death for Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as (Mohbad) could not be determined as his body was too decomposed by the time an autopsy was performed.
Mohbad, whose untimely demise shocked the music industry and fans was a rising star known for his distinctive sound and energetic performances.
Despite extensive efforts, the advanced state of decomposition rendered a conclusive autopsy impossible, leaving questions about the circumstances surrounding his death unanswered.
The professor told the court the autopsy was conducted at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in which photographs were taken for documentation.
Shokunle noted that the body of the late singer Mohbad was not embalmed and was decomposing before it was brought for autopsy.
After the results came, Prof Shokunle said they discovered puritin, caffeine and paracetamol and a superficial injury on the left hand and the cause of his death was concluded as uncertain.
He also told the court presided by Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi that when the body was going to be exhumed they found out that heavy stones were been placed on top of the grave which took them four hours to remove.
Another witness, who was also cross-examined, Owodeni Ibrahim, a childhood of Mohbad, said they have been friends since secondary school days.
Ibrahim told the court that he knew Ilerioluwa (Mohbad) to be a calm, smart and hardworking guy and never knew him to be unstable.
“Every time I see Mohbad he is always ok” he said.
According to him, he and the late singer were on their way to a show from Lekki to Townhall at Ikorodu with the late singer’s wife, known as Cynthia, the driver of the car and two other friends when an argument ensued,
He told the court that Mohbad and his wife got into an argument in the car and he tried to calm Mohbad down but Mohbad got angry with him for not supporting him.
According to him, he got down from the car to clear the road while the late singer continued quarreling with the wife.
Ibrahim also told the court that Cynthia got angry when Mohbad told her that he doesn’t know if their baby belonged to him because he only met her once and she later claimed to be pregnant for him.
The witness said he advised Mohbad not to marry his spouse but the late singer told his spouse to stay away from him.
After taking his testimony, the Magistrate adjourned to Wednesday, June 11, for further hearing.
