Diddy: LA District Attorney’s office reacts to video of rapper assaulting Cassie
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has reacted to the viral video footage of embattled rapper and music executive, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, reportedly assaulting his former signee and estranged girlfriend, Cassie.
The video footage obtained by CNN, captured Diddy repeatedly kicking and throwing objects at his then-girlfriend Cassie in 2016.
The office said it won’t be prosecuting the business mogul because of the incident which occurred in an hotel hallway, in Los Angeles.
In a statement, the office said “if the conduct depicted occurred in 2016, unfortunately we would be unable to charge as the conduct occurred beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted”.
The office added that the law enforcement hasn’t presented any case related to the attack depicted in the video against Diddy.
The LA Attorney’s office, however, urged victims and witnesses to present their reports to the law enforcement or seek support from the Bureau of Victims Services.
The emergence of the footage is against the backdrop of the multiple sexual assault charges being pressed against Diddy.
