Award-winning American singer, Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, popularly known as Beyonce, has given the Kamala Harris campaign permission to use her song, ‘Freedom’, as its official tune.

Harris, expected Democrat nominee and United States (US) President Joe Biden’s deputy, is to challenge US Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, in the November 5, 2024 election.

CNN quoted a source close to Harris as saying that her team got approval from Beyoncé’s representatives to use the song throughout her presidential campaign.

The source added that the American singer, who is known for maintaining strict clearance guidelines around her music, gave quick approval to Harris’ campaign when they sought permission to use “Freedom” on Monday — just hours before she walked out to the song.

Daily Trust had reported how Biden withdrew from the race for the US presidential election on Sunday.

This came amid mounting pressure from his Democratic colleagues on Capitol Hill, top donors and Hollywood stars after a “disastrous” debate performance last month

In his tweet, the outgoing US President said, “My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made.

“Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”
