A notorious drug dealer who compared himself to infamous cartel leader Pablo Escobar has been sentenced to nine and half years in prison.
Shahen Ahmed, 34, of Stevedore Street, Tower Hamlets, was convicted of supplying Class A drugs.
Ahmed was targeted by the Metropolitan Police’s Operation Yamata, which focuses on dismantling drug supply networks across east London.
Investigators identified three sophisticated drug lines operating under the “Killah” banner from December 2021 to June 2022.
On June 28, 2022, officers executed warrants at Ahmed‘s address and another linked location, uncovering large quantities of crack cocaine and heroin, over £60,000 in cash and digital devices containing incriminating evidence
A video discovered on Ahmed’s phone showed him boasting about his criminal activity, referring to himself as “Pablo” and claiming control over the streets.
Detective Inspector Sam Bennett commented: “Drugs are inextricably linked to violence and misery on our streets. They blight communities and ruin lives. Ahmed’s arrogance motivates us to bring such individuals to justice.”
Detectives from the Met’s Economic Crime Unit are working to retrieve over £600,000 laundered through Ahmed’s business accounts under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
Ahmed’s sentence marks a significant victory for Operation Yamata and the ongoing efforts to disrupt drug supply networks in east London.
