No casualty recorded – Lagos commissioner speaks on collapsed two-storey building
The Lagos state government has disclosed that no casualty was recorded as a two-storey building collapsed at Amusu Street in the Orile Iganmu area of Lagos state.
In a statement by the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, on Monday, October, 14, he stated that the building had been evacuated two weeks before the collapse as it had been marked for demolition.
The statement reads: “A distressed storey building already marked for demolition has collapsed in Orile-Iganmu.
“No casualty was recorded as the building had been evacuated two weeks before the incident. In fact, it had been marked for demolition.
“The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Fire Service, Building Control Agency (LASBCA) and the Police are at the scene to ensure there are no secondary incidents.”
