Youths and students, under the banner of the National Association of University Students (NAUS) and Ogbomoso Indigenous Associations, staged a protest over the weekend over the dilapidated state of the Oyo/Ogbomoso highway.
The protest took place in Ogbomoso, Oyo State. The demonstrators issued a 30-day ultimatum to both the Federal and Oyo State governments, demanding action to address the hardships faced by motorists on the road.
Speaking on behalf of the protesters at the Taki Roundabout in Ogbomoso, NAUS Vice President Tiamiyu Olayinka expressed concern over the tragic loss of life caused by frequent accidents on the poorly maintained highway.
Olayinka warned that failure to meet their demands within 30 days would result in further demonstrations and economic disruption.
