The Police Service Commission (PSC) has promoted four officers who are currently teaching at the Police Academy in Wudil, Kano after they completed various academic programmes and acquired PhD certificates.

The officers who appeared before the Commission yesterday are CSP Favour Fadawag, Inspector Shide Sunday, Inspector Oparaji Benjamin Chetachi Ukwu, and Inspector Benjamin Wanger.

According to PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani, CSP Fadawag was promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police while the three Inspectors were elevated to Assistant Superintendents of Police, pending confirmation for further placement.

PSC Chairman retired DIG Hashimu Argungu, who presided over the event, indicated that other officers holding additional professional qualifications, such as law degrees, would soon be upgraded per public service requirements.

Argungu said the Commission is committed to fostering merit and professional development as motivations for greater dedication and commitment to duty.

The Commission will continue to promote transparency and accountability in fulfilling its constitutional mandate and ensure that police welfare, including proper placement, remains a priority.”

Additionally, Argungu highlighted the Commission’s intention to address corruption within police institutions, including the Police Colleges and the
Academy. He said a whistle-blowing policy would soon be implemented across these institutions, warning that any officer engaging in corrupt practices, such as accepting money for admission or recruitment, would face disciplinary action under the law.

Congratulating the newly promoted officers, Argungu urged them to excel in their duties and serve as role models within the force.
