Man United name Rúben Amorim as new manager
Rúben Amorim has been appointed as Manchester United’s new manager, the club have announced, starting in his new role on Nov. 11.
The 39-year-old former Portugal international replaces Erik ten Hag who was sacked on Monday following the 2-1 Premier League defeat to West Ham that left United with just four wins from 13 games this season.
His contract with Man United runs until June 2027, with the club having a one-year extension option on the deal. Ruud van Nistelrooy will remain in charge on an interim basis until Amorim assumes his responsibilities.
Amorim has been in charge at Sporting CP since 2020. He won the Portuguese title in 2021 and 2024 despite fierce competition from FC Porto and Benfica.
