Hell was let loose in the Odigbo Council Area of Ondo State after a farmer named Adegoke reportedly beat a suspected thief to death.

According to the report other suspected thieves, who allegedly invaded his farm located at Mile 10 in Ore, were injured and are currently hospitalized at an undisclosed location.

According to a police source, Adegoke claimed that the suspected thieves had been stealing produce from his farm, as well as his motorcycle. Reports indicate that the suspects are from the neighbouring Aba Tuntun community.

A local source commented, “Some suspected thieves had been stealing the farm produce of Adegoke, who is popularly known as Ariya. He remained quiet for a long time about the thefts.

However, his patience wore thin when he caught two out of four individuals on his farm. “Previously, he had frequently noticed that his cocoa pods, kola nuts, plantains, and even his motorcycle were missing.

When he caught the two suspects, Adegoke beat them severely, which resulted in one of them dying. This incident has caused tension within the community.” Following the incident, Adegoke was arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Akure for further investigation.

Odunlami stated that it was the farmer’s wife who informed him that thieves had once again invaded their farm. She mentioned that the farmer rushed to the scene and confronted the suspects. The media spokesperson added that police detectives are still investigating the incident.
