Canadian actor Julien Arnold dies during Christmas Carol performance
Popular Canadian stage actor, Julian Arnold, passed away on Sunday evening while performing in A Christmas Carol at the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton.
The 60-year-old was playing the roles of Marley, Mr. Fezziwig, and Banjo when he collapsed mid-performance, leaving the audience and cast in shock.
Efforts by paramedics to revive him proved unsuccessful, as Arnold was pronounced dead at the theatre.
Alberta Health Services confirmed that resuscitation attempts were made, but the exact cause of death remains undisclosed, according to a report by CBC News.
Arnold, an Edmonton theatre legend with a career spanning decades, was married to Sheiny Satanove, the managing director of Punctuate Theatre.
In a tribute on Instagram, Punctuate Theatre shared a photo from the couple’s wedding day, calling Arnold a “beloved friend” and “a gifted performer.” The tribute described him as someone who died doing what he loved most—immersed in theatre.
The statement read: “Julien was a cherished member of the Edmonton theatre community whose warmth, talent, and generosity touched so many lives. He leaves behind many loved ones including his loving wife, Sheiny Satanove, who now faces the immense challenge of moving forward without him.”
Arnold’s portfolio includes performances in The Wizard of Oz, Beauty and the Beast, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Once.
