Alhaji Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, who served two terms as governor of Sokoto State, has officially announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

His decision stems from his desire to dedicate more time and effort to the Northern Star Youth Empowerment Initiative (NSYEI), a new organization launched recently at Arewa House in Kaduna State.

Bafarawa submitted his resignation letter to the PDP national chairman, Damagum, dated Wednesday, January 8. The letter was formally received at the PDP national secretariat on Monday, January 13.

In his statement, Bafarawa cited the potential conflict of interest between his role in the PDP and his leadership of the youth empowerment NGO, which he co-founded in late 2024.

“I will now focus my attention on creating awareness for youth entrepreneurship and empowerment initiatives aimed at making them self-productive, reducing redundancy, and fostering self-reliance,” Bafarawa explained in his resignation statement.

Expressing gratitude for his tenure within the PDP, Bafarawa extended his best wishes to the party’s leadership and future endeavours.
