Two ‘lovers’ inflict injuries on exam officer over failed admission in Kano poly

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A Kano Polytechnic teacher, Aliyu Hamza Abdullahi, is presently recuperating from a deep cut allegedly inflicted by a female candidate who failed to be admitted to the polytechnic.

The teacher, who doubles an examination office, was said to have been attacked by the admission seeker alongside her boyfriend at the polytechnic on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025, when the teacher was attending to his primary duties.

Briefing journalists on the development, the spokesperson of the polytechnic, Auwal Ismail Bagwai, revealed the incident that left Abdullahi in the pool of his blood.

The two alleged convicts, whose names were not disclosed, have escaped arrest and are presently on the run, The Guardian gathered.

In the narration of the polytechnic’s spokesperson, the incident occurred when the student, who was dissatisfied with the course offered, approached Abdullahi for a change of course.

The situation, however, took dimension when the admission seeker was told that her request for an alternative course of study wouldn’t be possible because her score grades fell below the required marks.

“The female student entered the office with her boyfriend, identifying the lecturer as the obstacle to her desired course. The boyfriend then produced a cutlass and launched an attack, aiming for the lecturer’s head,” Bagwai said.

“The lecturer sustained injuries to his hands while attempting to defend himself. Other students in the office intervened, prompting the assailants to flee the scene. After the attack, the lecturer was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

“the institution’s security officers subsequently proceeded to Dorayi, the student’s residential quarters, to apprehend the female student and her boyfriend. Upon their arrival, the student fled into her house, and a group of thugs emerged, wielding weapons, and assaulted the security officers.

” The school security officers had sooner withdrawn from the scene and retired back to their duty post. The case has been reported to other security agencies for further investigation on the case. So the injured lecturer is currently receiving medical attention.”(Guardian)
