Mudashiru Obasa Is Very Rude – Muiz Banire
A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Muiz Banire, has accused Mudashiru Obasa, the recently impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, of being rude.
During an interview with Channels TV, Banire highlighted Obasa’s alleged act of rudeness towards Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, noting that the former Speaker kept the governor waiting for hours during the presentation of the 2025 budget.
Obasa, who had served as Speaker since 2015 and was in his third term, was impeached recently following allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
Banire further explained that while the budget presentation incident may not directly relate to the impeachment, it demonstrated a lack of mutual respect. He described the act of keeping the governor waiting as insubordination, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect between leaders of different government arms. He argued that breaching this principle creates serious issues.
He said, “Knowing who the governor is, the personality of the governor, I do not believe really that it has a nexus with what has happened. But beyond that, the [former] Speaker (Mudashiru Obasa) is very rude. To be candid, I believe he is very rude. Standing up the governor for such number of hours, is an act of insubordination, not necessarily because they are seemingly equal in terms of the head of leadership of two different arms of government, but there is something called mutual respect. Once you breach that rule, or that threshold, then there is a problem.”
