“You helped create the govt you now criticize” – Presidency fires back at El-Rufai

The presidency has responded to former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s recent criticisms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Bola Tinubu-led government.

Tinubu’s media aide, Daniel Bwala, took to his X account on Tuesday, January 28 and accused El-Rufai of hypocrisy.

El-Rufai had lamented the lack of internal democracy and active party structures within the APC, saying, “I no longer recognize the APC. No party organ has met in two years—no caucus, no NEC, nothing. You don’t even know if it is a one-man show; it’s a zero-man show.”

The former governor criticized the quality of leadership emerging from political parties, attributing it to unqualified delegates.

“You cannot afford to have illiterates, semi-illiterates, and cunning people as your leaders. This is why we end up with the poor leadership we have today,” he said.

Responding, Bwala pointed out that El-Rufai was instrumental in the formation of the current government, yet now seeks to unseat it.

He wrote on X: “My Senior brother, if you were to be in the government and cabinet, would you have held and expressed the same position? History is replete with examples.

“It is a government you participated in its formation, that you now want to unseat. Haba Mallam, a Ji soron Allah mana.”
