The actor’s nomination was announced through a post on X by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the president’s acting spokesperson, on Wednesday.

Dumelo’s nomination is part of the president’s recent cabinet reshuffle, which includes 12 other new ministerial appointees. The list features two female nominees, Gizella Tettey-Agbotui and Rita Naa Odoley Sowah.

As a member of parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Dumelo has been investing in crop and livestock farming through his own farm, Melo Farm.

Before assuming office, Dumelo and the other nominees will undergo vetting by the appointment committee of Ghana’s parliament.
