Early Morning Worshippers, Imam Abducted In Sokoto Community
Several Muslim worshippers and an Imam who were out for their early morning (Subhi) prayers have been abducted by some gunmen in Bushe community, Sabon Birni Local Government Area.
The gunmen were said to have attacked a Mosque in the town at dawn on Thursday, and abducted about 10 worshippers and the Imam.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command, Ahmed Rufai said he had just confirmed the abduction from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the community.
Rufai said, “I want to assure you that the Nigeria Police, in conjunction with other security agencies, are working tirelessly to ensure the immediate release of all the abductees.”
In addition, Sa’idu Ibrahim, a serving lawmaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly said that at least 10 people were kidnapped.
Ibrahim, however, commended the troops of the Nigerian Military for preventing further abductions in the area.
