Why Tinubu Appoints Women Into Leadership Roles, By First Lady
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has given reasons why her husband, President Bola Tinubu, has been keen on appointing women into strategic leadership positions in the country.
According to the First Lady, apart from inclusion in leadership roles, women in leadership have proven to show support for each other, they work collaboratively, and discharge their responsibilities diligently to ensure progress for the nation.
She stated this during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the Directorate of State Security (DSS), led by the Deputy Director-General, Mrs. Afolashade Adekayaoja, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
She lauded the DSS for striking a gender balance with their personnel, stressing that her commitment to empowering women in the country has not waned.
According to her, “President Bola Tinubu has an unwavering determination to ensuring women inclusion in leadership roles.
“His administration’s priority is to empower women and ensure their active participation in decision-making at all levels because it emphasises the importance of recognising and rewarding the tireless contributions of hardworking women in various sectors.
“Leadership positions held by women serve as a representation of other women across the country”.
Speaking further, she noted that “women in leadership have a penchant to support each other, work collaboratively, and discharge their responsibilities diligently to ensure progress for the nation”.
On her part, Mrs. Adekayaoja lauded the president and the wife for their strong support in advancing the cause of women in the nation.
She acknowledged their strong commitments and ongoing efforts to place women in key leadership positions, where they can make significant contributions to national governance.
The DSS Deputy Director General, Mrs. Adekayaoja, also expressed her appreciation for the First Lady’s steadfast advocacy for gender equality and the overall support for the DSS.
She reaffirmed the DSS’s commitment to protecting the lives of Nigerian citizens and ensuring a secure environment for the nation’s continued growth and peaceful governance.
