APC leaders endorse Gov Oyebanji for 2026
Key All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in Ekiti Central Senatorial District have endorsed Gov. Biodun Oyebanji for the 2026 governorship election.
The endorsement took place during a special senatorial meeting organised by APC leaders and stakeholders from Ekiti Central Senatorial District. The event was held at Fajuyi Pavilion, Ado Ekiti.
Among the leaders present were the Senate majority leader, Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele, and former deputy governor, Prof. Modupe Adelabu.
Sen. Babafemi Ojudu, former commissioner, Ronke Okunsanya and serving House of Representatives members, Biodun Omoleye and Sola Fatoba.
Also in attendance were former acting governor, Tope Ademiluyi, former House of Representatives member, Wumi Ogunlola, and other respected elders of the party from the district.
Ms Adelabu stated that the endorsement does not prevent other APC members from contesting. She explained that it only represents full support for Mr Oyebanji in the upcoming election.
Addressing the large gathering, Mr Bamidele said the endorsement showed the party’s commitment to continuity. He stressed that it would ensure continued development in Ekiti State.
Mr Bamidele praised the governor for his achievements in infrastructure, agriculture, and youth empowerment.
He noted that Mr Oyebanji’s economic policies had positively impacted the state and beyond.
Mr Ojudu commended Mr Oyebanji for unifying party leaders and driving development. He highlighted the Adire Ekiti Hub as a key policy transforming lives and boosting economic growth.
“This is the first time since 2003 that people can sleep peacefully without fear. The governor is a unifier with no politically motivated killings under him.
“He has embraced his former opponents and now has no enemies. His humility is admirable. He deserves a second term, and we will ensure his victory,” Mr Ojodu said.
In response, the governor expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and APC members for their support. He credited them for enabling his administration to advance development in Ekiti.
As a native of the district, Mr Oyebanji pledged to keep working to reduce poverty and improve infrastructure. He urged party members to mobilise support while ensuring fairness.
“My deputy and I accept this endorsement with humility. However, this does not prevent any APC member with governorship ambitions from contesting in a fair competition,” Mr Oyebanji said.
