Lagos Assembly Crisis: Yoruba youths warn against anti-Tinubu conspiracy

The Yoruba Youth Socio-Cultural Association (YYSA), on Sunday, said it is perturbed by the alleged ongoing conspiracy against President Bola Tinubu in Lagos State over the crisis in the state’s House of Assembly.

The group warned against further divisions in Lagos, saying the last presidential election result in the state was a pointer to the fact that the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) wall had started cracking.

In a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan by its National President, Olalekan Hammed, and the Secretary, Olawale Ajao, the group said Mudashiru Obasa was removed without consulting Mr. President, who is not only the President of Nigeria but also the party’s national leader.

The youth leaders said Lagos State is an ethnic enclave for the entire Yoruba people.

The leaders said, “We are highly perturbed regarding the ongoing conspiracy against President Tinubu in Lagos State. President Tinubu has laid a solid foundation for progressives in the state, and his legacy should be maintained at all costs.

“Sincerely, there is no GAC member in Lagos State who has never drunk from his oceanic magnanimity; even their children are tapping from it today.

“Despite that, some party leaders have been working seriously to destroy the building that took him several years to erect.

“The last presidential election result in Lagos was a pointer to the fact that the Progressives’ Party wall has started cracking.

“To worsen the situation, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa was removed without consulting Mr. President, who is not only the President of Nigeria but also the party’s national leader.

“Moreover, Lagos State is an ethnic enclave for the entire Yoruba people. It belongs to all of us, but surprisingly, some people have begun to use indigenes to set everything further apart.

“Unfortunately, if we allow division along indigenous lines to persist, the Yoruba may later lose political control of Lagos to the Igbo.”

The YYSA leaders called on stakeholders to sustain their loyalty to Tinubu.

“We are appealing to all stakeholders to keep their loyalty and support for President Tinubu intact for Yoruba land to move forward. Besides that, one of the major achievements of YYSA was working for the APC to ensure that we have a Yoruba president.”
