The Secretary to the Government of Rivers State (SSG), Dr. Tammy Danagogo, has cautioned that Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s calm and peaceful approach to governance should not be misinterpreted as a sign of weakness.

Recall that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. Critics had questioned Danagogo’s role in the Fubara administration, especially regarding his decision to sign the letter inviting lawmakers to a meeting with the Governor. Wike had dismissed the letter as “useless.”

Speaking at the commissioning of Okrika Grammar School in Okrika, Danagogo defended his actions, stating that writing such a letter for an informal meeting was well within his official duties as SSG. He clarified that this was a standard administrative procedure and not an overreach of his position.

Danagogo, who previously served as SSG during Wike’s second term as governor, noted that he performed similar functions under the former administration. He insisted that his response was not politically motivated but aimed at correcting false narratives.

The SSG commended Governor Fubara for his restraint amid political tensions, particularly the recent closure of the Rivers State House of Assembly complex, which prevented him from presenting the state budget. He noted that some past governors might have responded with drastic actions, but Fubara chose a path of peace and stability.
