Security Operatives Foil Break-In At VP Shettima‘s Country Home

Security operatives thwarted an attempt by a man to break into the Maiduguri residence of the Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima, on Wednesday.

The house is located at the New GRA, Gwange 3 Ward, off Bama Road, Maiduguri, the state capital.

A security source confirmed to our correspondent that the incident happened around 0530hrs, on Wednesday, when the suspect tried to compromise the house security through the back fence.

“He mounted the perimeter wall, which is well fortified with security ware through the Gadabul River bank, unaware of the security surveillance put in place.

“Our men rounded him up and shot his leg when he tried to escape and was taken to hospital in the morning,” he said.

He revealed that the suspect, identified as Ibrahim, was said to be a resident of Meri or Maduganari area, and has a wife and children.

On whether they knew the motive of the suspect in trying to break into the VP’s residence, he said “Only investigation can revealed that.”

When contacted, a source at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, said the suspect, Musa Ibrahim, was brought in an ambulance around 8:15am under heavy security.

“He was brought to the trauma centre by security operatives around 8:15am, but I cannot comment on his health status,” he said.

Efforts to speak to the Police Public Relations officer, Borno State command, ASP Kenneth Daso, were not successful as he did not pick up his calls or respond to text message sent to his line at the time of filing the report. (Daily trust)
