Draft civilians in fight against terrorism, banditry – Ex-CAN president tasks Tinubu

Disturbed by the increasing security challenges plaguing the Northeast region, a former National President of Youth Wing of the Christians Association of Nigeria, Engr. Daniel Kadzai has asked President Bola Tinubu to rejiggle his security architecture.

Kadzai pointed out that the resurgence of the deadly Boko Haram attacks in the Northeast, coupled with the latest spate of kidnappings and banditry, has raised questions and fears about the fate of Nigerians and their security.

While speaking with Arewa PUNCH exclusively via a phone call from his Abuja resident on Tuesday, Kadzai commended the efforts of the president so far in the handling of the security challenges across the country, but urged the government to involve Nigerians irrespective of their party affiliations.

Kadzai, who hails from Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State, disclosed that his hometown was at some point taken over by insurgents before it was reclaimed by the military.

“Security is the duty of everyone, so I appeal to the president to involve more civilians in discussing the way forward, without minding the political parties they belong.

“I’m suspecting political tones in the recent happenings in the NorthEast, any time elections are approaching, insecurity increases in the North. The question is why?” he asks.

Kadzai thus urged the military and other security agencies to change tactics of operations by involving more trusted civilians in areas of information gathering to enable them to fish out those behind giving information to the insurgent.

“Security officials are being killed, civilians are killed, churches and mosques are destroyed, so who is gaining, because we are all losers,” he remarked.

The ex-CAN leader also urged Nigerians to stand up and support the government in the fight against insecurity, pointing out that the country must exist if politics and democracy must thrive. (Punch)
