Osimhen will transform Man United – Ex-players
Former Manchester United players Louis Saha and Owen Hargreaves have tipped Victor Osimhen to turn the fortunes of the club around if the Red Devils successfully land him at Old Trafford in the upcoming summer transfer window, The PUNCH reports.
United have lacked the cutting edge upfront this season despite splashing about £100m on Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee last summer. Both strikers have just 15 goals between them, leading to fresh calls for another No.9 to be signed.
The Red Devils are being linked with various options including Wolves striker Matheus Cunha who is said to have agreed terms with the club.
However, former striker Saha believes the club should go for osimhen who has hit 30 goals during a productive loan spell at Galatasaray.
“I really like Victor Osimhen. He’s definitely got the character, he’s got the quality. He’s also got a good European pedigree: he was a success in France, he was a champion in Italy with Napoli and he’s gone to Turkey with Galatasaray and been brilliant, a move that he probably didn’t want, let’s be honest,” Saha told Mega Dice.
“I think he would be a transformational signing for Manchester United. If you think about the pressure that he was under at Napoli, firing the club to its first title in 33 years, then he’s the perfect man to lead the line for Manchester United. I think he would have a huge impact at United. I would love to see the club hierarchy move for him, I think he is exactly what we need.”
“He’s scored goals at every level. He’s got Champions League experience, and he’s got the type of personality and charisma that this United squad could really benefit from.”
Former England international Hargreaves also named the Nigerian among three signings who would change United’s fortunes next season.
He told Rio Ferdinand Presents: “If you added Victor Osimhen, Matheus Cunha, and Ederson from Atalanta, Man United would be different next season.”
Amid interest from other parts of Europe, the 26-year-old is also reportedly keen on a move to Old Trafford.(Punch)
