Suspects request photo with police spokesman after being caught with cocaine, pistols
A viral video has captured the moment suspected drug dealers asked to take a photograph with the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, shortly after their interview.
The suspects were caught with cocaine and two pistols, which they claimed they used to protect their drug business.
Edafe had disclosed the arrest in an earlier Facebook post on Tuesday, stating that the suspects were intercepted during a stop-and-search operation by operatives attached to the command’s Safer Highways patrol team.
“These two suspects were intercepted during stop and search by operatives attached to Safer Highways patrol of the command,” he wrote.
He said a search on the suspects led to the recovery of two Beretta pistols concealed on their bodies, alongside a substance suspected to be cocaine.
Edafe cited the arrest as justification for continued stop-and-search operations by the police.
In a follow-up post, Edafe narrated how the suspects got “carried away” once they realised he wanted to interview them.
“I have not seen this kind of people before. Caught with cocaine and two pistols, which they claim they use for the drug business. But they got carried away when they saw that I wanted to interview them. They even asked for a picture after the interview,” Edafe wrote.
Edafe said he obliged the suspects but told them to return for the photograph after serving their prison term.
The video showed one of the suspects recognising the PPRO on sight.
“You say you know me before,” Edafe asked in the video.
“Edafe Bright,” the suspect replied.
“Edafe Bright na him be my name,” the PPRO said.
“Ahh, who no know you,” the suspect responded, adding that Edafe was well known as PRO.
Asked what would happen to them, the suspect said, “Na the same thing,” and Edafe replied, “E don reach your turn na.” (Punch)
