Al Hilal make Osimhen €50m salary offer
Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal have tabled a stunning €50m per season contract offer for Victor Osimhen, whilst Napoli have ordered the Nigerian striker to report for pre-season training as his future remains uncertain.
The 26-year-old has never been closer to leaving Napoli, with transfer market expert Armando Areniello, who specialises in Napoli, revealing that the former Lille forward has been the subject of a massive offer from the Saudi Arabian club.
“Victor Osimhen has never been so close to leaving Napoli. Al-Hilal’s latest monstrous bid could be decisive: €50m per season for the player,” Areniello said in quotes relayed by ArenaNapoli.
“Negotiations are underway with the Azzurri. An agreement could be reached for a figure between €60-65m.”
The extraordinary salary offer comes as Napoli have reportedly directed Osimhen to report for pre-season training ahead of the 2025/26 season.
According to La Repubblica, Napoli will resume preparations on July 15 at the Castel Volturno Sports Centre and have scheduled to send the striker an official letter by Monday, June 30, ordering him to join the squad.
Despite the uncertainty over his future, Osimhen remains a Napoli player under contract until June 2026, with his loan spell at Galatasaray officially ending at midnight on Monday.
Ivan Zazzaroni, editor of Corriere dello Sport, speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss, appeared confident that the Saudi move would materialise.
“I’ll almost give it to you as a done deal. Victor Osimhen will go to Al-Hilal,” CalcioMercato reports him as saying.
“No one could match the offer – not even half of it! €40m a year is impressive. He didn’t want to go to the Club World Cup but there’s a lot of optimism for Al-Hilal. In my opinion, he’s going there. Galatasaray cannot afford to pay even half of that amount. There have been no offers from the Premier League. It would be a surprise if he didn’t go there.”
The conflicting figures suggest Al Hilal are prepared to break the bank for the striker, with reports indicating the total package could reach €160 million over three years.
Osimhen has traditionally expressed a preference to remain in European football, but Saudi officials hope the extravagant financial package may change his mind.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s pursuit of the Nigeria international has hit a stumbling block after Napoli rejected the Premier League champions’ opening bid. The Serie A side turned down Liverpool’s initial proposal of an “equal exchange” involving Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez for Osimhen, according to Valter De Maggio.
Galatasaray are also mounting their charm offensive to retain Osimhen following his spectacular loan spell in Istanbul. Coach Okan Buruk personally telephoned the striker, outlining the club’s ambitions and telling him that joining the Super Lig champions would be the best decision of his career.
The 26-year-old was instrumental in Galatasaray’s domestic double last season, scoring 37 goals and providing eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. His performances reignited interest from top European clubs and demonstrated his continued quality at the highest level.
Juventus have also emerged as contenders for Osimhen’s signature, with Calciomercato reporting growing clamour from fans of the Turin giants for the Nigeria striker to join them following their 5-2 humiliation by Manchester City in the Club World Cup.
