Governors not doing enough despite increased FAAC allocations – Ayiri Emami
Ayiri Emami, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta, says state governors are not doing enough despite the recent increase in the monthly disbursement of the federation account allocation committee (FAAC).
Speaking with journalists in Abuja at the weekend, Emami said the revenue profile of states has increased since the removal of the petrol subsidy by President Bola Tinubu.
The APC chieftain said Nigerians must hold the state governments accountable to know what they are doing with the huge disbursements instead of blaming the federal government.
“If the federal government has taken off the subsidy and the money is being paid to the state government, the states are supposed to look after the needs of their people,” he said.
“But I think the state governors don’t care, so everybody now focuses on the federal government.
“I would suggest that the president put an eye on what is going on in each of the states, since the allocation is being adequately sent back home to the state government.
“I don’t think the state governments are doing enough. It’s not by doing bridges but without welfare, there will be hunger, so how do I ply the road, and that’s exactly what’s going on.
“Now everybody will be shouting Tinubu. They don’t care how people feel. So, most of this blame is supposed to be channelled to the state governments.”
The APC chieftain urged Tinubu to reshuffle his cabinet, adding that only five ministers are actively doing their assigned work.
