‘Some Graves Are Better Than Thrones’ – Buhari’s Youngest Child Mourns

Noor, the youngest daughter of Nigeria’s former President Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed deep grief and spiritual reflection following the death of her father.

She described her father’s grave as brighter than thrones, adding that the past days were painfully quiet and emotionally heavy.

In a heartfelt tribute shared on her Instagram story one week after the passing of the former leader, Noor wrote that life has taken on a different tone since the loss.

“Some graves [are] brighter than thrones. Because their owners lived for no one but Allah”, she said.

The quote accompanied a throwback video of her with her parents.

She noted the emotional toll and the void left behind.

“It has been a week since daddy returned to his Creator. Every day since has felt quieter, heavier, and not quite the same. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return”, she wrote.

Noor, who has maintained a relatively private profile over the years, also accompanied her message with prayers for her father’s forgiveness and eternal peace.

“I pray Allah showers him with mercy, forgives all his shortcomings, and grants him a peaceful resting place among the righteous. May his grave be a garden of Jannah, filled with light and ease”, she wrote.

She further used the moment to thank Nigerians and well-wishers for their support during the family’s mourning period.

“Thank you to everyone who has called, prayed, messaged, and held us through this. Your duas (prayers) and kindness have meant more than words can say.

“Please keep daddy in your prayers. May we all be reunited with our loved ones in Jannah one day. Ameen”, she submitted.

The former president, who served two terms between 2015 and 2023, died last week at the age of 82.

His passing triggered an outpouring of tributes and condolences from across Nigeria and beyond.
