The General Secretary of the Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals (ANAP), Rasaq Saidu, alleged that the money would be diverted into the 2027 electioneering campaign.
“Let me tell you that money is what they want to use for election. How much do they want to spend on the Airport? There was the $500 million Chinese loan.
“How can the government pull down that building and rebuild it? What of the control tower? They are just joking. Approval is not money and we are waiting for them. It is not possible. It is a calculated attempt to mop up money for the 2027 election. If not, I challenge them.
“Look at the number of offices in that building. How do you want to break down that building and the Control Tower? It is a wasteful exercise. The original plan of MMA has been depleted by the edifice they just built. The same thing they did in Abuja. This was the way the former Minister fooled us by bringing Ethiopian Airline as Nigeria Air.”
