
MTN Nigeria Communications Ltd has announced key leadership changes impacting its executive and board structure, following a broader realignment within MTN Group Limited.
In a regulatory filing to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), the telecoms giant disclosed that its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Karl Toriola, will assume an expanded role as Vice President for Francophone Africa within MTN Group. This new responsibility will see him oversee operations in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, and Congo Brazzaville, alongside his current duties as CEO of MTN Nigeria.
Dr. Toriola is no stranger to the region, having previously served as Vice President for West and Central Africa at MTN Group—a role that gives him a deep understanding of the Francophone markets.
In another development, Mr. Ferdinand Moolman, a Non-Executive Director on MTN Nigeria’s Board, will step down from his position effective October 31, 2025. Moolman has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of MTN South Africa, a role he will officially assume on November 1, 2025.
The Board of Directors expressed gratitude to Mr. Moolman for his “immense service” to MTN Nigeria and extended best wishes for success in his new leadership role.

The statement read: “MTN Nigeria Communications PLC (MTN Nigeria or the Company) hereby notifies the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and the investing public of changes in the Company as a result of leadership changes in MTN Group Limited.
“Dr Karl Toriola, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria, will take on the additional role of Vice President (VP) of Francophone Africa for MTN Group Limited. This encompasses: Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin and Congo Brazzaville. Dr Toriola has extensive prior experience in the role, having served as VP for West and Central Africa at MTN Group Limited.
“Mr. Ferdinand Moolman, Non-Executive Director, will exit the Board of the Company, effective 31 October 2025. Mr. Moolman has been appointed CEO of MTN South Africa effective 1 November 2025.
