Aryna Sabalenka solidified her reign atop the tennis world on Saturday, clinching a dominant straight-sets victory over Amanda Anisimova to successfully defend her US Open crown.
With the win, the top-ranked Sabalenka became the first woman since Serena Williams in 2014 to win back-to-back titles at Flushing Meadows.
The final, played on Arthur Ashe Stadium court, saw Sabalenka secure a 6-3, 7-6 victory in one hour and 34 minutes to claim her fourth Grand Slam title.
The triumph adds to her previous US Open win in 2023 and her consecutive Australian Open victories in 2023 and 2024.
The milestone victory also marked Sabalenka’s 100th career win at a major tournament. Over the past 15 years, only Iga Swiatek has reached the century mark at Grand Slam events faster than the Belarusian star.
Sabalenka’s win also narrowed her head-to-head deficit against Anisimova, improving their career record to 4-6 in the American’s favor.
As champion, Sabalenka will receive a $5 million winner’s check, capping off a spectacular fortnight in New York.
