A Kenyan woman, Rukia Wasuna, 26, on Monday, killed herself along with her two children by setting her home on fire after she learnt that her husband wanted to marry a second wife.
According to Citizentv, Wasuna locked her two children, aged 6 and 3 with her inside the house, before she set the house in Otonglo area, of Kisumu County on fire.
Confirming the incident, a local chief, Simon Osege Orwa said preliminary investigations indicated that the woman’s action was as a result of a domestic disagreement.
According to the administrator, the woman’s husband was reportedly planning to marry a second wife and on getting wind of this information, she purchased petrol from a nearby filling station and committed the act.
Mr. Orwa added that the deceased’s husband was away working in Eldoret as of the time of the incident.
Crime officers have since arrived on the scene to retrieve the bodies and start probe. (Punch)
