Coventry City agree deal to sign Awoniyi
Coventry City have agreed a deal to sign Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest on a permanent transfer.
A club-to-club agreement has been reached between the two sides, with Awoniyi now undergoing his medical ahead of completing the move.
The transfer will see the experienced forward join Frank Lampard’s Coventry City squad as the club look to strengthen their attacking options.
Awoniyi, who has Premier League experience with Nottingham Forest, is expected to provide an additional attacking threat for Lampard.
The Nigeria international joined Forest from Union Berlin in 2022 and has been an important part of the club’s squad during his time at the City Ground.
Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, confirmed the agreement in a post on X on Saturday, saying: “Coventry City agree deal to sign Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest, here we go! Club-to-club agreement done, permanent move and also understand medical is now ongoing. New striker for Frank Lampard.”
With the agreement now completed between the clubs and the medical underway, Awoniyi is closing in on becoming a Coventry City player.
The move is expected to be finalised once the remaining formalities are completed
