Spanish midfielder, Rodri, has been unveiled as a new Barcelona player.

This follows the completion of his move to the Catalans from Manchester City.

The 2026 World Cup winning captain joined the Camp Nou giants in a deal reportedly worth up to £65 million, and has signed a four years contract.

“FC Barcelona and Manchester City have reached an agreement for the transfer of Rodrigo Hernández Cascante, known in the football world as Rodri, who is committing to the Catalan club until 30 June 2030,” the Barcelona statement read.

An excited Rodri said he is ready for the challenge of winning more trophies at the club, including the UEFA Champions League Barcelona has not won since 2015.

“I’m very happy and excited about this new stage in my career. It’s a fresh challenge, a chance to experience new things and feel that excitement again.
“I’m here to compete for everything, for big things like the Champions League.
“I’ve come to a hugely ambitious club that really suits my personality, so I’ll try to help in every way I can to achieve our objectives this season.”

Rodri, born in Madrid and courted a transfer to Real Madrid following Spain’s World Cup triumph, becomes the 20th player born in Spain’s capital city to play for Barcelona.

He won the Ballon d’Or honour in 2024 at Man City.
