ICPC Tracks 31 Kaduna Projects, Recovers N2.05bn

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has tracked 31 constituency and executive projects valued at about N2 billion across the three senatorial districts of Kaduna State.

The exercise, carried out under the commission’s Constituency and Executive Project Tracking Initiative, also facilitated the recovery of N2,056,467,766.86 in public funds.

The tracking team, led by Chief Superintendent Haruna Aminu, visited selected project sites across Kaduna South, Kaduna North and Kaduna Central Senatorial Districts.

The initiative was aimed at ensuring that public funds allocated for development projects were properly utilised and that the projects were executed in line with approved specifications.

During the exercise, ICPC officers assessed the level of project execution, compliance with approved specifications, value for money and accountability in the utilisation of public funds.

It described the recovery as a significant outcome of the initiative, stressing the importance of effective monitoring of constituency and executive projects in safeguarding public resources.

The projects tracked were spread across the three senatorial districts, namely Kaduna South, Kaduna North and Kaduna Central.

The ICPC said officers involved in the exercise paid particular attention to whether the projects were being implemented according to approved designs and specifications, as well as whether the funds allocated to them were providing value for money.

He explained that the initiative is part of efforts by the anti-corruption commission to strengthen accountability in the implementation of government-funded projects and prevent diversion or misuse of public resources. (Daily trust)
