Tinubu Can’t Boast Of Completing 250km Roads Across South West – APM
The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has criticised the Federal Government for not inviting the Oyo State Governor and its Presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, to the flag-off of the Ibadan- Ijebu Ode federal road project, saying the present administration is jittery over the performance of the governor.
Abubakar Yusuf, National Publicity Secretary of APM stated this in Abuja on Tuesday.
Yusuf, in a statement, said the present administration and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) were scared that Makinde’s presence at the event would have further exposed President Bola Tinubu’s “failures as the APM presidential candidate has done far better than the President in the last three years, including the execution of road projects”.
The party said while Governor Makinde had executed over 360 kilometers of roads in Oyo state alone, with more lined up for commissioning in the coming months, the present administration and President Tinubu who is from the southwest, “cannot boast of initiating, executing and completing up to 250 kilometers of roads in the entire southwest since assumption of office in 2023 despite the huge financial resources at his disposal.”
The statement further said the APC is uneasy over Governor Makinde’s leadership prowess in uniting and galvanizing other governors, leaders and stakeholders across the country on major national issues.
The party also said it is now clear that the fear of Governor Makinde’s popularity “could be the reason behind President Tinubu’s absence at the ceremony.”
APM said it candidate is not perturbed by the incident, as “APC and the Tinubu Presidency must note that they cannot run from Governor Makinde forever. They must surely meet him at the poll in January 2027”.(Daily trust)
