Tragedy was averted on Monday as a petrol tanker rams into vehicles in the Gbagada-Iyana Oworo area of Lagos State.
It was gathered that the accident, which happened around 5pm, involved six vehicles and a tanker laden with 33,000 litres of diesel.
Other vehicles involved were a Toyota Corolla, Honda Accord, Toyota Highlander, two Toyota Camry cars and one Mazda car.
According to the General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Adesina Tiamiyu, the accident was caused by suspected brake failure on the part of the tanker.
Tiamiyu said,
“Fortunately, there was no loss of life or injury sustained in the accident involving seven vehicles; it happened around 5pm at Oworo inward Olopomeji from the Third Mainland Bridge.
“The tanker was suspected to have had brake failure and it rammed into the vehicles. Emergency responders were immediately activated to the scene.”
It was learnt that the emergency responders that attended to the victims included the police, Lagos State Traffic Management Agency, Federal Road Safety Corps and the Lagos State Ambulance Service.
